New Year, New Me

photo editedSo in this time of big plans, pious declarations and diet torture I’ve made a few resolutions myself.  One is to take a deep breath and let go of the old in order to step into the new.  A big part of that is acknowledging that this little website of mine has been quite unloved of late*. (*Read: abandoned)

The reason for that is partly a hectic life (business, study, freelancing etc) but that doesn’t really cover it as I know lots of incredibly busy bloggers who still find time to post regularly.   AND they have little ‘uns to boot.

The main reason I haven’t been writing here is that Gastronomics.ie isn’t really me anymore, and it felt (and read) a little forced.

Mum’s up to her eyes in work, family and planning for an eventual relocation to la belle France.  Hopefully she will in the future eke out a little time for her own writing, as she’s bloody good at it and shouldn’t let it slip aside while she looks after all of us so well.

Me? Well, I’ve just grown up a little.  I began writing for this blog some four years ago and since then a lot has happened.  I’ve renovated a house, changed jobs, moved counties, started a new business, got married and began taking night courses in creative writing.

I still want to blog and I still love food (even the briefest perusal through my Instagram will tell you that) but just with a different focus than before.

In short, I’ve decided to whittle it all down to simply writing about what I love – food, books and writing.

I’m not sure if you’ll like it and I’m certainly not sure if I’ll be any good at it but I turn thirty this year and I’m very determined – if a little nervous – that this’ll be the year I stop being scared and just go for it.

So this is a little goodbye from Gastronomics.ie.  My new personal blog will be up and running in about a week or so and this site will be redirected.

Keep an eye out as I change social media names to RMKealy as I don’t want you to get all freaked out, thinking that your account has suddenly started auto-following randomers.

It’s still me, and still the same old inane waffle, I promise ;)

I really, really hope to see you on the other side.  The world of blogging and tweeting has led me to amazing mentors, engaging writers and true friends.  So to finish, thank you from Gastronomics.ie and hello from, well…..me.

Ps I was surprised to see that the inimitable Beaut.ie is also retiring this week.  It makes me feel a little better if even super-bloggers like those ladies do step back sometimes!
